ASYLM Bard: we have only two folks up against each other, three if
ASYLM Bard: there are more than two.
ASYLM Bard: Some of us have day jobs, and we need to get this done
ASYLM Bard: before midnight!!
ASYLM Bard: You will be told by the room Honcho, (usually da one
ASYLM Bard: runnin’ da rules ) what order the
ASYLM Bard: slam is going in and
ASYLM Bard: when its your turn. You’ll have three minutes
ASYLM Bard: to get your poem online...---------
ASYLM Bard: obviously, this would be a great time to make use of one
ASYLM Bard: of the macro programs (like this one ) that allows
ASYLM Bard: fast uploading. You can get one off of AOL for nothing!
ASYLM Bard: The room Honcho and two cohorts will score the poems
ASYLM Bard: between 0 (blah!) and 20 points (Absojehosophatinlutely
ASYLM Bard: incredible!!)
ASYLM Bard: The scores are strictly secret and kept that way. We do
ASYLM Bard: apologize but, weve decided not to be in the ego-building
ASYLM Bard: or busting business.
ASYLM Bard: We ask that members do not chat while a poem is being
ASYLM Bard: sent to the chat room. While the poems are being scored,
ASYLM Bard: the room will be open to chat and comment... ........
ASYLM Bard: The one with the most points at the end of the rounds is
ASYLM Bard: DA WINNA!.
ASYLM Bard: --end
CKnight504: ok
ASYLM Bard: and tha'ts how it's done

ERTHANGL1: Allow me a crevice
ERTHANGL1: of your life where I pry
ERTHANGL1: the latch, steal paisley dreams
ERTHANGL1: when day finds you searching
ERTHANGL1: through blurred windows
ERTHANGL1: for truth.
ERTHANGL1: .
ERTHANGL1: I pull up the sash
ERTHANGL1: on morning shadows;
ERTHANGL1: read Psalms, tea leaves,
ERTHANGL1: all the writings of Gibran;
ERTHANGL1: gather wind and rain
ERTHANGL1: to clean your vision;
ERTHANGL1: then lift the weight
ERTHANGL1: of your empty sight,
ERTHANGL1: gather it gently in my palms
ERTHANGL1: and offer it to the gods
ERTHANGL1: in atonement
ERTHANGL1: for your redemption.
ERTHANGL1: .
ERTHANGL1: As the film of dusk clears,
ERTHANGL1: you see the half-fallen sun
ERTHANGL1: hold fast, glare bright,
ERTHANGL1: blare white cries of protest
ERTHANGL1: against surrender
ERTHANGL1: to a moon who possesses
ERTHANGL1: no light of her own,
ERTHANGL1: but in truth,
ERTHANGL1: rises only to reflect his.

Mrs Zippie: not comprehending the passage
Mrs Zippie: of substance so warm and solid
Mrs Zippie: from their hold.
Mrs Zippie: .
Mrs Zippie: Glass shattered and spread
Mrs Zippie: before eyes could tell the mind
Mrs Zippie: what was lost and I kneeled
Mrs Zippie: on cautious knees
Mrs Zippie: to gather fragments so clear and fine
Mrs Zippie: I could not see what was gone.
Mrs Zippie: .
Mrs Zippie: .

MntnPoet: "That time of year thou may'st in me behold
MntnPoet: When yellow leaves, or few, or none do hang
MntnPoet: Upon those boughs which shake against the cold
MntnPoet: Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang:"
MntnPoet: ~~~ William Shakespeare
MntnPoet: ~
MntnPoet: Do you remember me, brother?
MntnPoet: Can you see us from where you are?
MntnPoet: I see you, caught in the amber
MntnPoet: of memories from long ago;
MntnPoet: eyes set in a thousand-yard stare;
MntnPoet: forever twenty-one years old.
MntnPoet: That time of year thou may'st in me behold.
MntnPoet: ~
MntnPoet: Your room is still as when you left;
MntnPoet: trophies shined with a mother's love
MntnPoet: and black-light posters, brittle now.
MntnPoet: Still the prince in her every dream,
MntnPoet: your crown, a slab of graven stone
MntnPoet: while I have passed my autumn years
MntnPoet: When yellow leaves, or few, or none do hang.
MntnPoet: ~
MntnPoet: I saw you, once, in ninety-two
MntnPoet: beside a lazy mountain stream;
MntnPoet: a place we always thought we'd go.
MntnPoet: Your name was there among the rest
MntnPoet: within that curve of sable stone.
MntnPoet: I felt the first real chill of loss
MntnPoet: Upon those boughs which shake against the cold.
MntnPoet: ~
MntnPoet: The autumn equinox of life
MntnPoet: has passed me now, and days grow short.

ASYLM Tigr: howdy Kimm :)
ASYLM Tigr: orrr not
ERTHANGL1: I know..cause i did one too..but it takes a bit of an explanation
ASYLM Bard: and then we'll heare a zippie poem, I hope.
MntnPoet: 'Glose' is Portugese for 'gloss'..It takes a piece of poetry
ASYLM Tigr: does it involve incorporating another piece of text?
MntnPoet: and embellishes it.
ERTHANGL1: yup yup..
MntnPoet: Yes..The 'texte' is the lead to the poem.
ASYLM Tigr: so it is almost like a found poem?
ERTHANGL1: not really Tigr..much more to it than that
ERTHANGL1: you still have the instructions David? could email it to them..
MntnPoet: Each line of the texte either leads or ends a stanza..Each
MntnPoet: stanza must contain the same number of lines and each
ASYLM Bard: hummm
MntnPoet: line the same number of syllables.
ASYLM Bard: ouch.
CalyxMouth: wow, and i thought sestina's were a bitch!
ASYLM Tigr: so it is like a haiku with extras rofl
ASYLM Bard: ditto, calyx.

Mrs Zippie: reason,
Mrs Zippie: owns it,
Mrs Zippie: throws it to the senses
